I was browsing the meeting minutes and noticed the call for volunteers to move the art flats. How big are those things? Do they not fit in the elevator?

Thanks to Michelle for creating such thorough notes so those of us who can't attend can see what's happening.

The art flats are 85 inches high and 48 1/2 wide. My measurements of the elevator suggest that they will fit, but I have been told that they will not. So the plan is to take one to GU and see if they do. If they do not fit, we will need all the volunteers we can get, there are 48 of them and they all have to go upstairs.

i suspect we may be able to get 2 in the elevator at a time. the elevator is small, slow and the only one in the building. with hospitality and all the vendors using it also it is going to be as much of a bottleneck as sizing issue.

Paula, there are actually two elevators in the building, maybe Art show could commander the one for awhile. I'm not sure about how many we could fit in the elevator. I am not in charge of setup and tear down. So really all I can give are ideas. We really need an operations department head.

The stairs at the West end are concrete - with a chain of bodies, we could make easy work of the Art flats. they are not "heavy" just sort of big to be moving by one's self. We had a cool chain in 2008, even had Steve Perrin chanting ... Smiling

We are all a creative lot, and we'll make this happen!

I do not think we should use the main stairwell at all for hauling up the flats...

The chain of command?
