2011 Warhammer 40k Event

Greetings,

My name is Dan Winters, my usual internet handle is 'winterman'. I have been asked to organize the 40k tournament this year. I was the TO for the 1st 40k tournament at SpoCon back in 2008 and look forward to organizing another successful 40k event for SpoCon's 4th year.

This year SpoCon's 40k event is being redesigned from the ground up to match the current trends in competitive gameplay. Gameplay will be similar to that found at this years Adepticon championship and points scoring and awards are similar to the NoVa Open of 2010 and 2011. Some basic info:

--1750 point armies.
--Four 2.25 hour games on Saturday August 13th.
--Best 8 by record/performance are invited to compete for the new 'Warmaster' award on Sunday the 14th.
--Fully painted armies are required but the minimum requirements are not stringent.
--Unlike previous years and GTs of the past, the Overall Event Champion will be determined by an equal part gameplay, appearance and sportsmanship. Those familiar with the NoVa Open format will recognize this as similar to the Renaissance Man award.
--Although the main event takes place on the same day as the 'Ard Boyz qualifiers, several local shops will be holding their qualifier on Sunday. So for a truely epic weekend of 40k you are free to attend both!

Signing up for the tournament is easy. Pre-register for SpoCon and email me with the confirmation number at winterman.row@gmail.com. You will then be signed up and ready for check-in. No additional fees neccesary, making SpoCon one of the most affordable hotel style 40k events in the nation. Space is limited so register early!
