So we had a pretty significant question, where do we park as it was brought to my attention that parking at the double tree costs money, are there any reliable alternatives near by that will be viable for the financially slim?

I ask 'cause unless there's something like a 5-6 hour meter nearby I might have problems

Well, the con is being held in downtown Spokane, so parking anywhere is expensive. There are metered parking spots along most streets, usually limited to 3 hours.

The area is littered with Diamond parking lots, which are generally recognized as shady ('shady' in the 3-card Monte kind, not the leafy green trees kind which they certainly aren't) since there's no meter or tickets. You just sort of drop your money in a box and hope you don't get randomly fined.

There is a parking structure a few blocks to the southwest on Main. Having never parked there, I can't give you any information on it.

There are also a few Park&Ride lots, though I think only the one on Jefferson under I90 is public. So it would add an extra step or two to your navigation as you figured out the bus routes.

Thanks

There are some 10 hour meters if you don't mind a bit of a walk. They're up by Sprague and Browne:

Just be sure to bring a lot of quarters.

There is, or was, a credit card driven parking lot up by the Ridpath. It generated a receipt you would put into your window.

The hotel also has self-park or valet parking for a price.

Dude,

Have some reservations about parking near Sprague and Division. Some parts are okay, but some will get your license plate jotted town by the SPD and a call to the Missus and all the elements associate with that are nearby. So be careful. Another consideration is that parking meters are enforced until 7PM. Meaning a 4 hour meter can be used at 3PM without worry.

haha lucky for me, the missus is more familiar with the area than I am and she's aware of the area we're gonna be parking in XD

For next year we're going to look at some parking alternatives.

Ideas being floated include contracting with the hotel to provide shuttle service to and from a nearby free parking lot but that will cost extra money for the convention.

Another idea is to see if we can get STA to give us a special SpoCon shuttle so people can park at a designated STA lot, like the arena lot, and get to and from the hotel cheaply.

If anyone has other ideas, please feel free to post. We understand the hotel parking situation is not ideal and we're willing to take a look at all possible options.
