Gaming Barter Fair?

I have another idea for a fun program activity that has been long desired for the Moscow area....

What about a game exchange-- you know a barter fair for gamers.

People bring their games of all sorts to a room and swap out with others for their stuff. * No money changes hands* its just trading for an hour or so in a room.

The idea is lots of people have games they have finished and maybe would like to trade it out for something else. RPGs board, card, dice, console, what have you.

Since no money is involved in the interactions, I dont think there are any considerations for tax forms, but I don't know what the vendors/dealers would think of a game swap.

We could also use it as a fundraiser for the con, by asking all participants to pay a small fee to attend.

What does everyone think about that?

This sounds promising as I have quite a few games I've been trying to figure out how to trade off or get r id of lately since I've played them so much they kind of ceased to be entertaining.

Interesting idea that could work. Would you be willing to spearhead the effort? PM me. Let's figure something out. Thanks.

Well as we have probably all noticed, Craig List is usually bereft of our style of card and board game. Heck, if you didn't want to wait,I have a lot of games for trade now Smiling I would much rather trade locally/regionally then long distance as I have been doing on Board Game Geek.

Well, there is a big difference between the willing and able part, unfortunately Smiling Willing, experienced, and skilled to do so? By all means. Able? I don't know.

I am on disability but my health has gotten worse the past year, and I have been housebound for all but a few days since mid november. I am currently on my fourth round of infections for 2009.

So at this point, I cannot in honestly say "yes" as I cannot guarrantee my state of health at any particular time, as it can change suddenly, and I loathe to not follow through on commitments.

HOWEVER, that being said, efforts that can be done via email and assistance in planning and such, maybe even making up posters and ads, that sort of thing, I may be able to help with. I would certainly like to as much as I am able!

With that in mind, contact me at my real email solsticesun at verizon.net and we can talk planning and ideas at the very least.

Is anxiously awaiting the final cut answer on all this.*

I would volunteer but I think I've already got my plate full at Spocon. -_- I will already be stretching myself thin between two different area's of the con. *L* Not to mention trying to actually enjoy the events themselves.

Hey there, sorry been out of touch, been sick Smiling

Got confirmation that Palouse Board Gamers WILL have an onsite presence this year at Spocon! As far as the barter fair, perhaps we can do this too while on site. Whoever is the appropriate spocon official person can talk to me (or via mr. snell) and we can see what we can plan for this as well. It would be easy I think to host it in the Open Board Gaming room when we are onsite anyhow.

Any comment from any of the game vendors on this idea?
