or will they be in the same style as last year?

ConCom Shirts:
Do we want "new" shirts this year? Meaning something a bit different, but still blue?
Security Shirts:
Same thing. I think we should mix it up some, but not too much
GM shirts:
Same as last year? Mix it up? Yes, no? Yellow?
Volunteer shirts:
Are we running with shirts or a vest or?
Con Shirts:
I honestly think we should run with just the "art" shirt. We could do it two ways -- color for $20 and "line drawing" for $15. Each shirt could be a different color mayhaps?

What do you mean "art" shirt? Has Mr. Picacio agreed to let us use his art on shirts? that's the first step.
Also, I think last year proved that both shirts were incredibly popular, though I think the logo shirt was possibly slightly more popular, but that's just my feeling, I don't have any hard numbers to back that up.

All shirts should be different, or why get one?
I suggest doing the "art" shirt as the only one available at con, as per most cons, and sell just the logo one as a promo at room parties, ect. Full color is nice, will $20 be too high for our attendees?
My $.02

I thought I would toss it out there if we wanted to do an art shirt or not, and then go from there. I can have Randy / Char get in touch with our Guest Artist and see if it is okay. If not, we can have some fun with our own logo and the Fan Enough theme.
I don't recall either, but was the "art shirt" more $ ? Either way, I need numbers...
). I recommend a 50/50 (cotton / poly) shirt for color fast and lack of shrinkage:
What color do we want the Con shirt to be? Honestly, I am friggin' tired of black, black and more black. Blue, Red, and yellow are out (or 'are' they

I'm OK with black for shirts--just look into my closet, it looks like a black hole.
That said, I do rather enjoy the khaki brown. It's a nice neutral color that I think sets the colors of the logo nicely. I'd wear that. :D
Begging your forgiveness, John. I have no idea what you have in mind for the shirt design. I just wanted to see what the logo looked like against the khaki.

I like Navy or Maroon for the Attendee shirts, if we opt to do regular logo and date-only shirts "on the cheap".
For the Art Shirt I think we'd probably need to do it on black.

I believe Henchmen are in Vests ... not shirts.

I guess we should decide what art is going to be on the art shirt, then deceide what color would be best for the art.

The volunteers are NOT in shirts this year. We are wearing vests.
I need a ConCom shirt, size medium please.
I vote for the art shirts only and if we have any of last year's con shirts still around we could sell them at a reduced price after this year's shirts are gone.
Any color other than peach or pink is fine with me, although, I'd like to have a woman's version available sooner or later.

How is everyone else with this? I can find out the price differences, but having a "fitted" female shirt will make us look like we know what we are doing
Trick is ... what percentage?

It's a great idea. I did recommend female shirts last year, but money came up too short for that to become a reality. I think it helps SpoCon to have female shirts. First, it shows we know what we're doing. Second, it demonstrates to the fan ladies out there that SpoCon cares specifically about them and put some thought into their needs. Finally, it gives the fan boys out there something to pick up for wives/girlfriends/moms/sisters/etc out there. In my experience, us fan guys just don't look at a pile of t-shirts or other loot withhout thinking "mememememememememe" first. We need to get them thinking about who else they can also buy for, and female shirts could get them leaning in the right direction on buying stuff for other people. It's been said many times, and it's very true: Fans are by-and-large impulse shoppers. Which equates to more people walking around wearing our logo--we get more money this year, and it can't be a bad thing for the next year's attendee numbers.

Regarding Art shirts: I'm not a fan of art shirts. Personally, I feel it degrades the art unless it was originally created solely as a shirt design. I'd never wear it. Not even at the convention, and certainly not afterward. I took the opportunity to talk it over with a couple of con virgins I intend to bring to SpoCon this year and they agree with me that they'd never wear an art shirt--I've shown them examples. They were, on the other hand quite happy with the idea of the logo shirts. Unless the numbers came out absolutely overwhelmingly in favor of the art shirts last year, I see no reason to nix the SpoCon shirts.
As far as color goes, I'd very much like either the Attendee or the ConCom shirts to be done in khaki or brown. But I do realize that in reality, the color scheme decision is part of the presentation of the convention, and the presentation of the convention is the marketing department's call--specifically, for the overall look of the convention, that falls into John's area. So while color suggestions are certainly welcome, what ultimately gets decided would be up to him. hehe /nudge: khaki!

Okay -- here are some ideas for the Womens T's:
Fitted, v-neck, Navy Blue:
http://bit.ly/19fZ7L
Fitted, crew neck "Heather Sand"
http://bit.ly/pfLnA
These would be for the logo and "Fan Enough ~ July 31 - August 2, 2009" on the back (or wedge it all on the front, I'll work with Brunette's on this).
I have asked Randy to contact our guest artist regarding and Art Shirt. I like Stan's idea of the kahki shirt as the "logo" shirt this year. Let's be different.
Hmm... sounds like I'm going to end up being the master of the Mad Marmot Market -- where ever it is we set it up (near but separate from Registration -- perhaps were we were going to set up the fan tables? In the nook area in Cataldo? Makes sense to have it right there .. yes?
The key will be "how many"
Art shirts (if any) will be "Limited Run" -- 100 or so.
Logo / Con date shirs (not black) will be how many? and then how many will be Men's t's and how many women's t's. I'll start the pricing going and we'll go from there.
ConCom shirts will be same as last year (blue)
Additional security shirts...Red
GM shrits... yellow?
So, let's have some fun -- for the above 3 shirts we I say we have "ConCom Enough", "Security Enough",a nd "GM Enough" on the back for the 2009 editions ...
yes... no... maybe?

I think "Fan Enough" and the date split onto two lines (on the back) would be good for regular attendee shirts.

Interesting to see some of the differences. I won't buy another logo shirt, already have a couple, not something I need more of even if different colors. Even concom shirts should have something other than logo on front and concom on back. Been there, done that, literally got the shirt.
I buy shirts from different cons because they have something cool and different on them. Ideally this is created specifically for the con for the shirt, part of the GoH gig for artists.
Rob McDonell

Something I think we should consider is the notion we discussed several months ago when the idea of "Fan Enough" was generated for this year. The intent before was to generate revenue by selling "Fan Enough" shirts before the con as a highly inelastic demand tool. As such, they have been sold to people as limited run, cannot be found at SpoCon 2009 shirts with "Fan Enough" on them.
I would suggest that we put "Fan Enough" but also place something like "Lord of Fandom" and "Lady of Fandom" above or below the "Fan Enough" so as to say it isn't the same shirt, and at the same time keep the slogan alive, while not ruining the limited run of "Fan Enough".
Chime in folks!

How about "I Am Fan Enough"?
Rob McDonell

Good idea Edgar regarding people want something different, noticeably, every year. Something to consider strongly there. The logo can be on it no problem, but something else to be different as well.
John, I like the path of "I Am Fan Enough", but the translation is the same as "Fan Enough". Need to differentiate so people feel they're getting something new and exciting worth their money.

Thanks for the shirt links Tim. I think I like the V-neck best, in whatever color. Although if we are going with a khaki or brown version for the men, the women's should be of the same family but a different shade.
I agree with Dawn in that the color of the art shirt should compliment the colors in the art. I would love to have an art shirt with the same design used for our badges. Maybe, instead of a solid block of color though, it could be modified by the artist into a line drawing for the tshirt specifically? Last year's art shirt is a bit stiff.
I like the Lord/Lady of Fandom for the logo shirts. Put that on the left front breast and the logo/date on the back? But then that creates the problem of what to do if a woman wants the regular/men's shirt style.
As far as how many to order of each, I'd look at last year's numbers, this year's pre-regs and whether or not we can tell who is female, add 10% to the pre-reg number and see how many that is. It can always be adjusted down before ordering. I'd also find out what Brunnett's policy is on short-notice orders.

Looking through my drawers today, a light colored one I can wear outside in summer would be nice. Plenty of black shirts already.
Let's not make gender specific shirts, other than a limited number with cut. Not all of our female attendees will be comfortable with a baby doll type shirt, shouldn't try to pigeon hole them into one.

For ConCom, I will have blue shirts made for those needing one.
For Security, I will have red shirts made, but will need quantity and sizes.
For GMs, I will have yellow shirts made, but will need quantity and sizes.
-- for the Con shirt:
1 - we need clearance from our Guest Artist to use his work and incorporating our logo into the artwork. For cost, all screening should be done on the front.
2 - we will need to pick a color. I am leaning towards a lighter color since we are a summer Con. I talked with Kevin and Greg at Brunette's and based on our logo, the khaki (or similar) will work very well. Only thing is they will need to screen the black as necessary.
3 - How does and 80 / 20 split on the Con shirts sound for "normal" and "baby-doll"? Can do less.
4 - Quantity: How many do we want. We may as well go full color on all of them since that is what we do.
Reasonable "Mad Marmot Market" (MMM) items besides the "Con" shirt (in the process of getting pricing ... do not want to break the bank)
- Do we want a "logo" shirts to sell?
- Do we want an "extreeeeemly" limited quantity of a special shirt? (or the beanie)
- Do we want "other items" to sell?
- - Shot glasses or mugs (or sell these only at the MMSC?)
- - beanies (seriously, get a dozen of these embroidered) - http://bit.ly/15AtJ6
- - hats - emboridered logo (hey, it WILL be summer time) - http://bit.ly/OSsO7
All shirts will be picked up from the MMM (ConCom, GM, Security, etc.) with proper ID and matching to a master list.
I am suggesting to use the coffee nook area for the MMM so registration can do registration and not have to worry about selling things. Yes? No?
I guess I am the head of the MMM now huh?

I love the khaki idea too! I have always really liked khaki anyhow and for the summer, I think that is a great idea.

I like the khaki/brown shirt. I want it to be different from last years too. I am hoping for a cool "art shirt." I really did not like last year's art on a shirt. It was great on a print, not-so-great on a shirt.
For my concom shirt, I'd like a Large please. I also want to get 4 female style shirts. Two smalls and 2 mediums.

I'm going to mention that I've heard a lot of people express the desire to have the guest artist's art printed on paper or canvas rather than a shirt. I still like the idea of doing a limited edition print instead of a shirt, it's classy and it doesn't horribly degrade the artist's work, which I think is really an insult to our guest. IMHO
Scott Spicer
Sayer of Doom
In my mind won't that hurt the art auction and art sales. Some folks might not buy a peice in addition to the Art guest print. Buying a shirt is kind of a expected expense.
