So I am thinking of renting one of those $100 a night university apartments and was wondering a couple things. Are they pretty secure door/lock wise? Pretty roomy? How far away are they from the main convention action versus the Red Lion?

They sound pretty amazing, but then again I am sure the Ford Pinto sounded great its first year on the showroom floor as well!

Thanks!!

Hi WP,
I'm pretty familiar with the Gonzaga Dorms and while I haven't spent a lot of time in the Dussualt one, I think I can give it a pretty good description.

Security: Very secure. Deadbolts on the outside door and regular locks on the room. As long as your roomie is honest, you don't need to worry about this.
Roomy: It's set up with a couple rooms attached to a kitchen/living room. The rooms are pretty small but there's plenty of room in the living room with a table and couch.
Distance: The Red Lion is pretty darn close. Dussault is really darn close.

The one big advantage the Red Lion has over Dussault is that the Dussault has really crappy dorm twin beds. They are not comfortable. If you're a 18-23 year old college student, no biggie. If you're getting up there in age, I'd think about making space for a foam pad. Personally, if I didn't live in town, I'd go for the dorms. The kitchen is great, there's space for after hours games, and it is a teeny bit closer.

I can only give you my opinion from my experience with them last year. The on-campus apartment I was in had a bolted front door, latches on all the windows, and each of the bedrooms also locked independently with a separate key. I kept a lot of my extra cameras and equipment locked in the room last year without feeling like I needed to worry.

It had more than enough room for myself and the three friends who were in the apartment for the weekend. There was a full-sized fridge, and small kitchen area along one wall. The living room was more than adequate for just spreading out and relaxing with friends after a long day at the convention.

The beds were tall and twin-sized with thin mattresses. An air mattress or foam pad would be a really good idea. Still, wasn't bad just for a weekend.

Thanks for the info guys, I think we will go with one of the university apartments, I just happen to have a twin sized air mattress that is usually used on the floor of an overcrowded convention hotel room LOL so this will be a good change of pace!

I lived in the apartments for a few years while I attended GU.

Very spacious, couch, chair, A/C in living room.
As above, fridge and full kitchen for whatever.
Dual sink bathroom, and shower. (Bring your own toiletries, I do believe last year there was no soap, shampoo, etc. Maybe even towels if you can)
Bedrooms: 2 Computer Desks, 2 Beds (bunkable), 2 large closets, and 2 dresser drawers.

Like I said, great rooms other than you have to bring almost everything you need (sheets they gave us kinda sucked, but I didn't mind.

Gonzaga webpage (http://www.gonzaga.edu/Student-Life/Residence-Life-and-Dining-Services/O...) says that the facilities aren't air conditioned, but I'm not sure that's right. From what I remember, most of the apartment style dorms had A/C. Dussault is one of the facilities that is occupied in the summer so I'd be surprised if they weren't ACed.

I would bring or purchase fans.
I am not the best source as I only was in the room 2-3 hours each morning, but my roommate (at another con) brought a fan with her.

So how/who do I get ahold of to get one of the 2 bed rooms?

I know it's kind of late, but If they're still available I'd like to see about getting one.

Thanks Guys!
