Job Title: Marketing Department Head




Reports to: Business Team Manager



Supervises: Internet department, graphic designers, coordinators, general staff and interns as needed.


Job Description: The Marketing Department Head oversees the branding, advertising, marketing and promotion of SpoCon and its events.


Responsibilities of the Department Head Include:
• Collaborating with the Business Department to create and implement a written marketing plan including but not limited to: situational analysis, marketing analysis (STP), MROI (marketing return on investment), promotional mix (advertising the organization, promotions, public relations), and market research;
• Overseeing printed materials, Internet presence, and quality control;
• Ensuring timely, strategic marketing of SpoCon and its events;
• Formulating and controlling the message that goes out to the community.


Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year experience running communications, promotions or marketing for a full-spectrum convention OR comparable work experience OR a bachelor's degree in a related field.


In lieu of this experience, the candidate must have:
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer service being essential;
• Ability to draft, implement and work within a budget;
• Ability to work closely with a team;
• Superior communication skills;
• Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and work effectively on an interdisciplinary team basis;
• Advanced understanding of marketing, advertising and promotions;
• Sufficient understanding of current Internet technology to communicate effectively with technical staff;
• Up-to-date understanding of promoting via social networking;
• Professional demeanor and attitude;
• Excellent attention to detail.


Additional Information: While the Department Head is responsible for ensuring these requirements are met, he or she may assign certain duties to coordinators as he/she sees fit.
